Dr. Saleem attained his PhD in Genetics from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)
in 2011 and had written an extensive amount of research papers.
As the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) / Lab Director, he is responsible for the entire laboratory operations of Cytogenomix Sdn Bhd (CGx) and pioneering new research and development areas, publishing research papers and presenting them at local and international conferences where such research could eventually benefit the community and enhance the value of medical practices.
Dr. Saleem has been providing Continuing Medical Education (CME) training to medical specialists and nurses in the areas of genetic practices, research and development. Prior to joining CGx, he was the Laboratory Director of an advanced genomics company in Malaysia where he has led this company to achieve many milestones:
- 1st laboratory in Malaysia to be awarded with the prestigious CAP accreditation.
- 1st in Malaysia to customise gene sequencing using NGS.
- 1st in Malaysia to conduct NIPT for pregnant mothers at 9 weeks of gestation.
- 1st in Malaysia to offer Pharmacogenomics.
- 1st in South-East Asia to conduct Prenatal Aneuploidy Testing using NGS.
- 1st in South-East Asia to conduct PGT-HLA (High Resolution) Genotyping on Embryos biopsies.
He had also worked with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang under the Advanced Medical & Dental Institute as a Post-Doctoral Fellow and was responsible for the development of Ethno-Pharmacogenetics Relatedness and Personalised Medicine database, identification of Germline Mutations that Predisposes to Develop Early-Onset Breast Cancer and identification of Genetic Modifiers of HbE/Beta-Thalassaemia.
